Official supplements and handbooks

5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons Starter Set
Starter set to get started with 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons. Has dice, pregen character sheets, basic rule book, starting adventure.

5th edition Dungeons and Dragons Players Handbook
Official core rules for the latest edition of Dungeons and Dragons. Contains everything you need to understand the rules of Dungeons and Dragons.

5th edition Dungeons and Dragons Essentials Kit
An additional kit especially made for beginner DMs. Allows for play with as little as 1 player and 1 DM. Rules for companions that can help fill in gaps in your party. An open ended Dragon Hunting adventure called Dragon of Icespire Peak. Comes with a cardboard screen. I generally recommend this to beginner DMs it allows you to get virtually anything you need to run your first campaign in addition to the Dungeon Master’s Guide.

5th edition Dungeon Master’s Guide
A dense but extremely useful tome about how to create adventures, play NPCs and all the general duties of being a DM. Full of tables and stats that will help you DM your own campaign or create your own adventurers. Its a great resource but can be daunting for beginner DMs. I recommend DMing the starter set and the Essentials set first to get a feel of how to DM before going all in on this book.
